The Army's Other Crisis with author Andrew Tilghman

Andrew Tilghman is a Washington-based reporter who writes primarily about the U.S. military and national security. He is currently a staff Writer for the Marine Corps Times newspaper and has also served as an Iraq correspondent for the Stars and Stripes newspaper and written for the Washington Monthly Magazine.

A native of Maryland's Eastern Shore, he began writing for a small weekly newspaper in Queens, New York in 1996, covering crime and local politics. After earning a masters degree from Columbia University in 2000, Andrew worked for the Associated Press in Milwaukee, where he helped cover the presidential election of 2000. He later moved to New York's state capital to work for the Times Union where, among other assignments, he spent nearly one year on a project investigating pedophile priests in the Diocese of Albany. After moving to Texas in 2003, Andrew joined the city desk at the Houston Chronicle and spent several years focusing on criminal justice and the death penalty. In 2005, he traveled to Iraq for the first time.
